The School of Life with Horses

A blog covering my journey with my quarter horses and paint horse. Horse show news from the Pacific Northwest, to do lists, horse tips as I learn and share them, my struggles and solutions - basically everything horse as I come across it.

Important Weekend Ahead

This Sunday I graduate. I have worked hard at night school for 4 years for my degree. I am graduating with honors from Whitworth College in the Pacifc NW. It's a private school and hasn't been easy on me or my parents (THANKS MOM AND DAD!!) putting me through school.

There is a Horse Show going on right now in Pasco, Wa and for the first year in like 5 years I am missing it because, number one I graduate on Sunday and also because there is alot of pre-grad events going on. I am taking the time off to participate in them all. Even though I am a little older than most of the grads - because i have worked so hard I am going to enjoy my time in the sun and participate in all the activities.

Tonight there is a social gathering at a Mexican joint up north near the school, tomorrow there is a dinner at the college and Saturday there is a year end slide show, art gallery opening, and senior reading of literature works. So much to do I am looking forward to it all.

My friends are sad that I am not at the show with them but they all have been SO supportive of my efforts in my education they agreed i should enjoy my time in the sun. My trainer, Joe Smith also has been supportive - always insisting that I not skip class in favor of horse shows and taking time to tell me that I am doing the right thing by finishing school, his encouraging words have always meant alot to me.

After the ceremony my parents are taking me out to dinner at a very nice place to eat up north - one of my favortie places of all time. I can't wait!!!

Even though I live for my horses this is one weekend I will not regrett not showing - I am looking forward to starting the rest of my life done with school - with a BLS in Program Management - from a respected college.

 FREEDOM AT LAST!

About inclined2ride

Live up in Northeastern Washington State - where its cold and we have snow for a loooooong time. Been riding horses since before I could walk - grew up doing the 4-H / FFA thing, and a lot of Open shows. Was educated in Western riding as well as English riding and Jumping. Survived college on Top Roman so that I could keep my horse up there with me. Am now all grown-up with a non-horse husband, and 3 horses to boot (technically 2 horses). I currently show on the local and regional Quarter Horse Circuit with a Paint Show thrown in when I can. Horses are as much a part of me as my arms or legs.
