    Re: Show Perfect Hair

I am so sick of Jill Henselwoods hair that I am trying to do something about it... I know you must have some horse friends on Facebook.... You should join my group   http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=12714297753&ref=mf

Its called   Jill Henselwood should wear a god damn HAIR NET!

hopefully by the end of the year I will have enough members to make her change her mind!

    Thanks for your time!

    Re: Show Perfect Hair

My hair is very thick and curly and in layers, so it's a challenge to keep it all neatly contained.  I treat it like a mane I'm going to braid and not wash it right before trying to do something with it.  The morning of the show, I wet my hair and put in some type of styling product like gel, or mousse.  Something with a lot of hold!  I then comb it into a low ponytail and secure it with a band.  I wait for the hair to dry before putting on a hair net.  I use three:  the first one goes over just my head.  The second goes just over the ponytail.  Then, I pin the ponytail up on the back of my head and secure the entire "do" with the third net.  Anal, maybe, but my hair has never come loose!

I also make sure I have the ever-important baseball cap at the trailer to wear when I eventually take the helmet off, since no one wants to see me without!  The "do" is functional, but not very attractive.Cool

Wow, you actually watch people's hair??!  I never notice, I'm too busy watching the horses.  But I just slap mine up with hairspray before a show and put one of those little bow things on the back at the bottom.  It's about shoulder length or above.  And I do mostly jumpers and eventing so happily not too many hair ***.

I put my hair in a low ponytail, flip it up over my head, throw a hairnet on and carefully place my helmet over it all. My hair is pretty slick and heavy though and once during a round my ponytail slipped out and flopped around Jill Henselwood style! The photographer got some fantastic shots that were unfortunately not so great due to the mass of flying hair behind my helmet.

Does anyone know what is appropriate(sp?) for lower level dressage? I don't know for sure if I'm going to compete this year (Have four week vacation coming up this summer), however I'm goint to next year for sure. as for Jill Henselwood's hair, I have never noticed! I'm too focused on the horses and the jumps!

evans.cody, wow! Another BCer! This makes me happy, lol.

I put my hair in a net and make a pony tail (low) with the hair net in it too. Then I flip the  & net up over my head and take ANOTHER hair net and put it over with the excess at the front. I take the extra and twist it and slip it under the first hair net slightly over to one side (if it's in the middle it tends to press on the helmet and hurt). It makes sure everything stays in place!

    Bobby pins, Bobby pins, Bobbypins!

My hair is just below my shoulders and very thick.  I put in a pony tail and then twist twist twist until it is in a bun.  Then I pin the heck out of it.  Then I put a hair net around it and pins that some more.  The wispys on the side, well, they get pinned too.  Then I top it all off with lots of hair spray.  My husband loves to make fun of my wispys in front, but luckily the hat keeps those at bay.  This year I'm buying one of those decorative hair nets with the bow and sparkles on it (western...requires much sparkle), but previously I showed Saddleseat and found that  cheap hair net from the store worked fine.
