Thank you for sharing such a neat story!

Oh, no! None of us are quitting at 90, are we?
I'm planning to start driving one of mine so that when my kids take my driver's license away I can still get to the mall or a horse auction Wink

Tacking onto the end here.. I've been a horse crazy girl all my life. Had ponies(technically) growing up. I was married w/children before I could get back into horses due to finances. Now I have 3 horses, a pony and my DIL's mare lives here as well. AND I had my eye on another just a couple weeks ago. NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

I am not quite there yet, I have 2 years before I hit the mark, but WTW says it for me in that sentence. If I am capable, I will be riding until the day I die. I will have them in my life as long as I can. I am miserable without them. I believe that they are in our blood from day one, from the day we first see them. Smile

I'm 61 (last June) and have had horses my entire life. My G-father had gotten my first horse for me before I was born (I was the only g-child he lived to see). I will ride as long as I am physically able and will drive after that. My Great G-mother is my inspiration - she rode daily (aside of course as she was every bit the lady) until a couple weeks before she died at 98. She had retired her mare and a new horse had not yet arrived from KY or she would have ridden til the day she died. I intend to follow her example.

I'm on board. 55, bitten by the horse bug 42 years ago.
The disease went into remission and resurfaced along with spare income when my son grew-up and moved out. I have owned 2 horses prior to my current. 1st bought to young, then bought just right, a 13 year old leopard Appy, but he was put-down last year. Now, another leopard Appy, 10 years old, Ben. We're working on becoming a team. My dream is to load him up and take him on the Chief Joseph Trail ride and finish it of course! It's an Appy thing-I just love them. Short and stocky and lots of spots.

I am 60 and have had a horse in my life since I was in Junior High. When I get too old to ride, I'm sure I'll have a pony or miniature to groom and "mother". I used to show and do competitive trail rides with my previous horse but he, unfortunately, had to be put down at age 19. I then went for 6 months without a horse. A rough time. But friends offered theirs for me to ride so I wasn't exactly horse-less. I then bought a 2-year old Arab who was basically "still at foal stage". He had little if any training at all. But he is now 12 and we enjoy trail riding. I just bought a new trailer and once his trailer training gets a little more solid I plan on taking him "off the farm" to great trail riding locations in the area. I can't ever imagine not having a horse to love no matter what age I am.

Turning 60 was somewhat traumatic for me this year mentally but it hasn't slowed me down as far as my horse riding goes. Don't let anyone tell you that age is a factor in owning and loving horses. We can go on forever. I do admit to being the oldest boarder where my horse is. That
plays with my head sometimes but everyone is friendly and don't treat me like the "old lady". Most of my riding buddies are in their middle 30's.

I'll turn 60 this year. I have 4 horses at home and do all the work myself (includes caring for 6 goats, 2 sheep,2 bunnies and 5 dogs). I don't feel old but didn't hit that magic 60 yet.

I'm not quite 50, 46 in March, got my first horse at 38. I'll never quit!! If, at some time, I can't ride, I'll get minis! Age is a state of mind. Linda O Wink

I'm no where near that age group at 22, but just wanted to say... You guys are very inspiring! I plan to be riding well into my 50's/60's+, preferably the rest of my life Grin There's nothing better for a person's mental and physical health than a horse Smirk

    Hi Gang! Laugh
You folks are great and very inspiring! I so wish that we all lived near to one another so that we could actually ride together. My barn has young people there and they are very nice but that's as far as it goes.In the mean time, you all are my horsey team, so let's keep this thread moving, okey?"Riding into our 90's",now that's positive thinking!
Have a good day and keep posting! (No pun intended)

Well actually I don't want my blood pressure going down since I'm kind of light-headed already, but is there anything more relaxing than being in a stable after dark on a cold winter's night & listening to horses munching on their sweet hay Wink Smile Laugh

You got that right! Mine goes down even in the car on the 30 minute drive to the barn. All my worries seem to get left behind Smile
