Thanks! She was definitely feeling photogenic that day. Usually she ends up looking like a fat alien in pictures lol.  But she really is a pretty horse at the right angles lol.

Rizzie doesn't have the greatest ground manners, so sometimes she can get a little pushy.  Then again, other times I have to drag her inside lol.  Most of the time, I don't need the chain but I keep it on her just in case.  She can be a basketcase too, spooking and getting scared at things for no reason, so the chain makes her more responsive when I ask her to put her head down and get her out of flight mode.

Ah, I know how that goes. I'm fine with Julie because she's pretty good at listening and not too big, but she's moonblind in one eye (she can see dark shapes but that's it), so she's really spooky if there's something big & noisy there. It's funny how horses are either photogenic or not like people, isn't it? They can look really good most of the time but in pictures they always look kind of funny. I've seen some of your other pictures of Rizzie that look really good, at least ones where you're riding her, though. How far along is she again?

I think she's due in May? Possibly early June.  I'm not sure though.  I should probably find out lol.

    Lol, it might help. ;-)

Hey you're not on the IHSA team at NIU, are you? Just wondering because my friend actually trains with the coach and I used to ride at the barn she's located at.

Well no... lol. I'm kind of on the team and kind of not.  I'm not very dedicated to the team because it's just not my style and I can't seem to fit in with the politics of it all, but I have shown with them a couple of times at our home shows.  Are you talking about Dasenbrook (sp?)? I've only been there once before to help with concessions at a schooling show, but have never ridden there.  It seems like a nice barn.

    Re: Random Rizzie Pics.

Yeah, I rode at Dassenbrook for a couple of years with one of their other trainers until she left. I'm not very happy with the way they treated the school horse I rode, though. He had terrible ground manners and was NOT meant to be a school horse (had bucking problems.) he would be okay as long as people who knew what they were doing rode him, but anytime I rode him after a beginner had been on he would be terrible. One day he lunged at the owner when she was walking into his stall, and they didn't even address the problem... just made a rule no students could go in his stall. A couple of months after I left someone told me they just left him in the stall and no one would ride him. He disappeared awhile ago, so we think they sold him/auctioned him off. It's sad, because he really need to be trained correctly, but the situation was handled horribly. Whew, that was a rant! Anyway, my friend still boards her horse there and rides with Joleen, but I know what you mean about IHSA. I think a couple of the home shows were at a barn called Green Pastures? I used to ride there, too... (I sound like I've ridden everywhere, lol.)

Anyway, I was just curious, because I thought it was an interesting coincidence. The horse world is so connected around here. There was a terrible accident the other day on Rt. 20 in Elgin involving a horse trailer. :-( I don't think the horses were hurt, but a man was killed.

Those are some nice shots of you and rizzie. Shes so pretty.   I like the saddle pad on her.  Her ear net..is that white or is it a shade of green?  Its hard to tell.

I didn't know that you were breeding her.  Who is the sire? Do you have any pics of her?  Do you get to train the baby too? Is this her first foal?

    Congrats and good luck.

That is a coincidence.  I've ridden at Green Pastures a few times with the equestrian team, but I'm not a fan of the place.  All the lesson horses just plod around and have no life in them it seems.  They are nice for beginners, but they are dead to any leg aids. Very sweet horses, but I prefer the place I ride at now. lol.

I didn't hear about the accident in Elgin.. That sounds horrible!

Thanks Laura! Rizzie's bonnet is white with grey accents. It probably looks green because of the grass in the background.  I'm hoping to get her a white saddle pad to match soon...As soon as I can save up some money. lol

Rizzie is my trainer's horse, and she is breeding her to her new stallion Indian Artbeat, aka Stilts.  Here is his website: http://oewequinecenter.com/stilts.htm  This is Rizzie's first foal, and I'm excited to learn about the foaling process.  I'm not sure what my trainer's plans are for the baby, but I'm hoping that I can help out in training as much as I can.  I'll keep you all updated.  I still have some time!
