Do you really listen to country music?
Everyone says horse people listen to country. Is it true? I do and I want to know how many other horse people do. Do you listen to country?Do you listen to country music? Tell the truth.

Re: Do you really listen to country music?
Yes, but not exclusively.
I also enjoy rock, metal (yes, the more screaming the better...), alternative, space, and classical (including gregorian chant). And yes, I have bought a heavy metal, country, and instrumental space CD at the same store at the same time before....I got some weird looks ;)

I love country and grew up listening to it.
I also listen to 80's and some older music and I will occasionally listen to hip hop, pop :)

Re: Do you really listen to country music?
I listen to good music and most genres of music do have stuff that you just know will be around for a long time (that's the ultimate test) - classical, rock, country, rap, hip hop, jazz, etc - the requirement is that there is talent involved, that it does not promote hatred or bigotry, that whether vocal or instrumental I have a sense of a story. That is one major plus for country music, the good stuff tells strong stories with the music and the verse... funny, sad, tragic, ordinary life. I'm more fond of the modern country, but who can beat Randy Travis or Johnny Cash?
Oh, and the question could be refined to include discipline and location - I live in the Midwest and ride English. I bet the farther East and West (NY and LA) you go the less country you get.
Yep! I'm a trouble maker! LOL

I LOVE all kinds of music. The classification depends upon my mood. But I usually listen to country when driving into work in the mornings. The DJ's on my country station are so funny!
Do you listen to 95.7? In Chico California? With Coyote?

Re: Do you really listen to country music?
Nononnononono no, and no.... NO, none, Nyet, nil.. LOL...
I have to echo poverty, I listen to 'good' music. Anything and everything, but twangy, sobby country, grunge (go Seattle) and some of that new alternative screechy stuff. I like classical, have a lot, new rock, old rock, heavy rock, and am the proud owner of ONE rap tune..... Blues jazz, latin jazz,
If you ever saw the scene in blues brothers 2000 where they were asked to play funk.... Well, then again, I have the soundtrack for that one.....

Re: Do you really listen to country music?
Sure I do! But there is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much variety to the generic blanket "country" label. There is some that is twangy and westerny, but some is pretty much pop (I call this the "nashville-ized" country), then there is TX country -- TOTALLY different and heavy rock flavour (my fav), and even another flavour that I call "red state country." So, a single label really doesn't cover it and what is played on the radio is MAYBE 10% of what's out there.

Not hardly. Being a muscian, I echo the sentiment that good music regardless of genre is good music. I don't listen to bad country, bad rock or even bad "classical," I just like music when it is done well. I like country because you can sing to it.

Re: Do you really listen to country music?
I do listen to country and ride English. Povertybyhorse, I have to disagree about the East and West coast comment. The country concerts seem to sell out just as well in LA and New York as they do in Dallas and Memphis. Musical tastes are not really dictated by geography. My friends all laugh at me because even though I listen to many kinds of music you are most likely to find me listening to the opera or the Opry.

Re: Do you really listen to country music?
OH YES I DO!!! I also think that western riders are ALOT more common to be listening to country. I listed to country when i ride, it seems to pump me up. It has such a message...every country song I've ever heard says something.....it's not just screaming...or just words.....i love it so much. Some songs get me a little emotional, and 2 of my favortie songs gets me through the rough times.....it's nuts I don't know who sings it or even what it's called...but the song...If you're going through hell.....{you know} keep on moving don't slow down, face that fire walk right through it.
I can never get enough country...I love it so much. The songs always make me feel better or make me feel stronger. and then theres the just PLAIN FUN ONES!! and the sad ones which are nice to.
some of my favorites....Brad Paisley, carrie underwood, kenny chesney, reba, martina mcbride, taylor swift, sugar land, keith urban, toby keith, ...I could list several more!!! =)
 My Family ^ My QH Tank, my paint horse Soldier, my dogs bella, holly, punkin, trooper, penny, buddy, sarah, herman, and rest in peace my special boy Little Guy. {Love you forever and after forever ends, always in my heart, and on my mind...Love you, and miss you my loving boy.}
