I will have pictures later :) Cocoa and Tracker welcomed a chestnut or red dun pinto filly into the world at 11:20pm! :) My first baby!
I was at work, and I saw Cocoa lay down (marestare is WONDERFUL!) and called hubby, as I saw her "bouncing" had him run outside while I flew home! Hubby delivered our little girl ;) He did a WONDERFUL job despite being scared, as I talked him through it.
Baby wasn't a red bag, she wasn't in the placenta, but it came out right after baby, no attachment to mom at all. I had to tear the umbilical cord.
Cocoa is normally VERY sweet, but she made it PERFECTLY CLEAR she wants us to STAY AWAY! So not long after she got up, I had to watch from outside the stall. Made sure baby nursed and passed the meconium, then I came inside to watch on the monitor.
Cocoa is a maiden, but VERY attentive to her baby. She worries me sometimes, as she was pawing baby to get up twice, I was worried she'd hurt her.
I couldn't be happier! I thought for sure she'd have a colt, even though I SO wanted a filly. No matter what, this foal was a keeper, so a filly is perfect! And buckskin is my fave color, but when it comes to pintos, chestnut is my fave! And I also don't like too much white... her white is perfect! :) And a cute little star :)
After I get a chance to eat, I'll upload the photos and send them. Thanks to a wonderful friend, the pharmacist who works opposite weeks as me, I don't have to go back to work, she's working for me! :)
"lunch" is ready!
