Cocoa sure had us fooled last night! I almost left work. She would paw, pace, shift around, walk around, lay down for a min, roll, get up, walk BACKWARDS a lot... just when I was about to leave, she stopped!

Coworker said she was doing the hokey pokey!

Now whenever I"m in there (except one time yesterday while scratching her neck) she keeps her ears FLAT and tries to get away from me :( She is NOT a happy girl!

I thought so too...she spend a long time rubbing her butt on the fence, would move and rub it again...she's now laying down again. :)

    Re: Cocoa's foaling thread!

    Today's update:

I turned out the girls this morning, with their breakfast. But instead of eating, Cocoa was laying flat out in the sun! So I brought them in prob after an hour, much less time out than I had planned for them... Cocoa ate a little bit, then has just been standing.

It is now 4 hours since they've been fed, and Cocoa has MAYBE eaten 1/3 of her breakfast, if that.... HMMMMMMMMMMMMM????????

She also acted different last night. She ALWAYS lays down at 9ish. I fell asleep at 11, she still had NOT laid down! And she stood in the back of her stall, which is not one of her two usual standing areas! (she's in one of them now though).

    HMMMMMM???????????

Of course, my work week starts tonight :( Good that I'll be up all night watching her, but bad that I'll be at work... I HATE that moment of... "do I need to go home? Or should I stay at work and wait?" Leaving work is definately something I can do, but it's a big deal... I"m the only pharmacist at night, and so to leave, I have to shut the place down. So, while leaving isn't a huge deal, I can't be gone for hours upon hours. I can't go home just b/c she looks like she might go tonight... I hve to wait until she is DEFINATELY going, and SOON. So that makes it hard on me to decide! sigh... At least hubby is always home at night, so he'll be here, but *I* want to be here, ya know???

Since I do have to stay up all night working... I'm off to try to get a nap. Hubby should be home in a couple hours. I will set my alarm to wake me in between to check on the girls...

Oh, my cam (actually, the computer) has been having issues and dropping the cam. If it drops for more than 20 mins today, please call me. I post on my marestare thread if I'm turning off the puter for a bit, but I will NOT be doing that today, so if it goes down today, it's not supposed to!

    Here's my marestare thread: http://latigo.marestare.com/forum/index.php?topic=6419.0

    UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!!!

Cocoa's udder not full, but teats not pointing in much. AND I GOT LIQUID!!!!! It's a watery WHITE and sticky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is also VERY jello-ie and not into food. She eats some, then goes and stands or lays down. Then eats some more, ect. Doesn't even finish her meals.

     WE"RE CLOSE!!!! I'm thinking this week!!!!!! :)

    WE HAD A BABY!!!

I will have pictures later :) Cocoa and Tracker welcomed a chestnut or red dun pinto filly into the world at 11:20pm! :) My first baby!

I was at work, and I saw Cocoa lay down (marestare is WONDERFUL!) and called hubby, as I saw her "bouncing" had him run outside while I flew home! Hubby delivered our little girl ;) He did a WONDERFUL job despite being scared, as I talked him through it.

Baby wasn't a red bag, she wasn't in the placenta, but it came out right after baby, no attachment to mom at all. I had to tear the umbilical cord.

Cocoa is normally VERY sweet, but she made it PERFECTLY CLEAR she wants us to STAY AWAY! So not long after she got up, I had to watch from outside the stall. Made sure baby nursed and passed the meconium, then I came inside to watch on the monitor.

Cocoa is a maiden, but VERY attentive to her baby. She worries me sometimes, as she was pawing baby to get up twice, I was worried she'd hurt her.

I couldn't be happier! I thought for sure she'd have a colt, even though I SO wanted a filly. No matter what, this foal was a keeper, so a filly is perfect! And buckskin is my fave color, but when it comes to pintos, chestnut is my fave! And I also don't like too much white... her white is perfect! :) And a cute little star :)

After I get a chance to eat, I'll upload the photos and send them. Thanks to a wonderful friend, the pharmacist who works opposite weeks as me, I don't have to go back to work, she's working for me! :)

    "lunch" is ready!

OMG, she's perfect!!!!!! Yes I've been worried because I know mini foaling can go wrong. But I see that things went smoothly and big KUDO"S to hubby for being right there and lending a hand. Funny what men can do when the time comes. I'm sure you are just estatic and proud of the newest addition to your herd. Can't wait for more pictures and I'm so looking forward to seeing pictures of all the little ones playing together.
