    Ruby's foaling thread!

Ruby is at 274 days today, so we should still have some time! She has had several foals before, but before I got her. Last year I had her, and she sadly lost her colt. He died before birth, causing her to abort at day 332. I don't know the length of her other pregnancies.

    Photos from day 264

And then from today, 274 days

For some reason she was wet under here? These photos were after bringing her in from turnout. Hubby did refill the water there, I forgot to ask he he got her wet, but it would be weird just to get her wet in this area and not her legs? Why would she sweat just here though? Or??? Oh and she was just turned out in the round pen. With Casi and Cocoa, but Ruby is NOT one to move much. They usually get turned out in a bigger space, but I just put them in the round pen for today.

Camera will be up this week! But not really for her, for Casi and Cocoa.

    Re: Ruby's foaling thread!

Also posted this in Casi's thread....

CAMERA IS NOW ONLINE!!!!   WAHOO!!!! :) So, does anyone want to help me watch for my mares to foal??? :) The website address is http://www.marestare.com/cheyaut.htm

Right now at this moment the stall is empty, mares are turned out. I can only have either my TV monitor or my online going at once, it's the same camera... so sometimes I will have the online one off and the TV one on FOR NOW. I hope to get a second camera so I never have to take it offline. Will be looking at some today or tomarrow! But I might still turn off the camera from time to time.

I will update on any changes. If you see a mare in labor and no one is there (check at the bottom of the camera, too, we might be waiting right outside the stall) PLEASE call. My number is under the camera on the link. It is VERY IMPORTANT that someone is around for a mini's birth, things VERY OFTEN go wrong. So PLEASE CALL if they are having their babies! :)

Once I bring the girls back in... Casi will be on the right. She should be the first to go. Black and white pinto. Small udder.

On the left is two girls, since they're not quite ready to go. Ruby is a chestnut and white pinto, due in a month or so. Cocoa is a silver buckskin dun, she is due not long after Casi. Slight udder to Cocoa. Soon I will be moving Ruby to another stall, so she'll be off the camera for a bit. I will move her back to this stall or move the camera when she is closer. I will likely switch Casi to the left side once I move Ruby out, then Cocoa will be on the right.

    Re: Ruby's foaling thread!

    Thanks! :)

You have to ignore the lines that move up it, they are annoying and make it a little harder to see, especially at night. It doesn't do this on my TV, and neither I nor the marestare people know why it does this, I have the recomended set up :( Oh well, at least it works ;)

It will be off tonight so we can have it on our TV monitor, it's much larger than the little box you get online. Hopefully tomarrow I'll have a second camera so we can do both at once!

    Thanks! :)

I got a second camera, so I'm able to keep their internet cam up all the time. It doesn't cover as much area though, so you can't alway see Ruby and Cocoa. You can see Casi pretty well though, and she's the first to go, I do believe...

Not too much to report. Cam is up 24/7 now, since I got a second one. Hung it on the other side of the stall, and the view range of it is smaller, so you don't see Cocoa and Ruby as well, but oh well.

Ruby's belly looks so much bigger/lower than the other two. But that's probably because she tends to carry low, and she has had several babies, where the other two are maidens. Ruby will hit day 300 on April 17, so she still has a ways to go!

How's Ruby doing? Got any new pictures now that it's closer to due date? Let us know since we can't see her because miss Casi decided she wanted to go past her term. LOL

    Re: Ruby's foaling thread!

LOL Thanks to both of you for asking :)

Ruby's doing well. She looks more ready in the belly area than the other girls lol! But that's just b/c she's had several babies, vs the maiden mares... so her belly hangs lower.

Her udder is hanging "looser" if that makes any sense? It's flabby. She's approaching day 300 this week. I would GUESS her to go sometime mid to late May.

Sorry no new photos just yet. This coming week I'll try to take some of the girls.

Now, if Casi or Cocoa ever decide to get down to business.... sheesh! LOL

    Re: Ruby's foaling thread!

Oops, Tricia, I forgot to answer some things ;)

Yup, Spin (leopard stallion) has bred Confetti (leopard mare) and Sage (varnish mare). But I'm not sure yet if they took... anytime Spin gets excited, they will let him breed them. hmm :( I'm hoping they're just sluts lol!!! He also bred my friend's buckskin mare. And I will likely breed Casi and Cocoa to him as well this year, depending on how their foaling goes. I'm sure hoping for spots in 09! ;)

Adopt you? Sure, you can clean stalls and feed horses... why not? ;)
