Craig's crazy terrier, Coach, was pretty stupid last night. Well, I guess we kinda were, too.
When we bring Kairyl, my Malamute, in for dinner (we usually put the dogs out for a few hours before so they can run around, potty, ect... not when it's summer though of course ;) ) he gets REALLY excited. Food is ALWAYS on a Malamute's brain ;) Usually Coach is in a bedroom eating his dinner, Kai comes in to his crate with his food, then Craig takes Coach out to potty (Coach can get out of the fence so he doesn't get to stay out).
Well, for whatever reason, Craig didn't feed Coach first. So he was at the door when Craig let Kai in all jazzed up for dinner. Kai has a one track mind, he runs STRAIGHT to his crate. However, Coach... well, he decided to attack Kai for some crazy terrier reason! Kai won't fight, unless someone attacks, then he's all in it! Craig grabbed Kai, that is enought to stop him. But not Coach! Had to use a stick to get him to stop! Then he took off. Kai is perfectly fine, not a mark on him.
Then we had to do a Coach search, in the dark... probably took 1/2 hour to finally find him. Right now he's at the vet to get stitches on one of his wounds, he has others too, but they don't need stitches. Sure don't like the estimate I got to fix him up! He is getting his shots since he's almost due, and his teeth cleaned since he'll be knocked out anyhow and they could use a cleaning. Sigh, crazy terriers!!!

Well I DO think the bill is outrageous, but MUCH smaller than when Coach was VERY sick and almost died and needed to spend several days with the vet... !
He looks INCREDIBLY silly ;) The wound on his chest is stitched. The one on his neck behind left ear ended up getting stitched and it has a drain tube. The wounds on and by his right ear were cleaned up. And he has a big bruise on his neck on the right side right by his jaw. I'm not sure if Kai did that, or me with the stick to get Coach off of Kai! :(
He's on Rimadyl and Tramadol for the pain/inflammation, keflex for antibiotic, and warm compresses to the drain tube area... fun fun!
I need to try to get photos of him... you guys will laugh, I do each time I look at him! He has the funniest haircut right now ;)

I think Coach is embarrassed by the haircut ... and you laughing at him doesn't help, I'm sure!
My dad used to have a cocker spaniel mix that hated my lab/border collie mix, and my dog hated Peaches right back. They got into it once and Peaches got her forehead ripped open. When the vet stitched it up, he put the drain tube in, and it looked like she had horns! THAT was funny! What wasn't so funny was that when I was trying to break up the fight, one of the dogs bit my right hand (good for you for using a stick!) and it bruised it so bad that it swelled up like a latex glove when you turn it into a balloon! There were some puncture wounds, too, so I had to do the whole emergency room thing. The worst part was, I was supposed to start my first-ever paying job (for someone other than my parents) the next day, and I had to call and tell them I couldn't work for a few more days! Seeing Coach's drain tube made me think of the "devil dog" Peaches!
Hope he heals up before he goes after something too big for him again. Gotta love them terriers!

Coach is doing ok, today he's acting his goofy self, so he mustn't be in too much pain? ( he is on pain meds). He goes back to the vet Weds to get the drain removed.
I had to laugh about the devil dog, how funny! Well, I used the stick b/c I broke up a fight between two large dogs (Kodak attacked Kai whenever he got the chance, so we kept them apart after this...) and I got bit in the elbow, BAD. ER visit and several stitches on my elbow, I have the scar from that! So I learned my lesson!

Poor guy . It's a good thing he didn't get a plastic collar too.... <<
Incredible how much our animals take our attention. My little Rosie kitty slipped out last night when I was putting the dog out for potty, and she didn't come home.... Cyotes prob.
I've been crying all day.

He would have a "lampshade" if the majority of the wounds weren't on his neck ;)
So sorry about your kitty, prayers that she's ok and will come home soon! My friends cat dissapeared for three days before finally coming home. Have you put up flyers, asking that if people even see your kitty they let you know? They prob won't be able to get him/her unless a super friendly kitty, but at least you'd know he's around? *hugs*

She is too friendly. and there are a lot of wild animals from the river bed around her. I was always trying to keep her in at night, but she was too fast.

Sorry to hear about your kitty, KCS. I'm hoping for her safe return. I was thinking the same thing about Coach, too - he looks embarassed! I'm glad to know he's improving. Next time (hopefully, there won't be a next time, but you never know) there's a fight, "wheelbarrow" the fighters apart. Grab a set of hind legs and pull! Obviously, this will only work if there are two people to help get the dogs apart, but it gets you a lot further away from the teeth. I hope Coach feels better soon!
