It will be fun watching him change colors as he grows up and guessing as to what he is :)

I guess I'll just have to post pics as he grows and changes color, eh?? LOL

Sometimes Palos ARE born with pink skin and light eyes that will darken, as will the skin. Not saying he's NOT a champ, but there's still a possibility he's just a palo. Either way, he's gorgeous and I"m jealous ;)

Check out this link for champagne info: http://www.ichregistry.com/identification.htm

Scroll down to the bottom to read about foals. It also says this: "Single cream dilutes - Palominos, buckskins, brown buckskins, and smoky blacks are frequently born with pink skin and blue eyes, which turn dark in a few days to weeks"

You foal has to have a cream gene from momma. Here is the page about cream plus champagne: http://www.ichregistry.com/cream.htm  and the horse at the bottom is a double cream plus champagne, what momma would HAVE to be for baby to be champagne.

I knew I could reply on the folks here to help me figure out what color he is. LOL I'm going with Pal for now. We'll see if He fools me... again! LOL

He passed His new foal exam with flying colors and had the vet cracking up at his antics (walking between his mom's hind legs, raiding the vet's supply case, so on and so forth)! He's such a sweetie and an even bigger goofball! It's gonna be hard to part with him... I hope whoever gets him will send me pics frequently! ~sigh~ This is gonna be a tough one....

    Qhallaround and Heather,

There are several shades of Champagne. Mystic is a golden champagne. There is also Amber or Classic Champagne, where the coat looks more buckskinish in colorbut still pink skin underneath. Usually a result crossing a black colored horse with a champagne one. Mystic has sired amber champagne horses out of black mares. He looks like he's going to be closer to amber champagne in shade. You can tell a golden champagne from a palomino by looking at the muzzle. If palomino, it will be black. If champagne, grey or pink. Hope this helps some.

She was 90% smae colored when she was burn as your colt. but ihaven't seen her since she was 3 weeks old, so i could't tell you. but yeah he is amazing! Congrats!
