MaryM43:
Dear JM - Have you tried using a supplement with Glucosamine Sulfate and Chondroitin Sulfate? The one I use is made by Solgar, a company known for their products having in them what they say they have. It kept my osteoarthritis from progressing at all for about 10 years, and still helps a lot, although the last couple of years the arthritis has started accellerating again. And I still notice the difference if I'm dumb or disorganized enough to run out for a few days. If you're going to try this, make sure the Glucosamine is Sulfate, not HCl like a lot of them are. A pharmacist friend-of-a-friend told me the human body just doesn't absorb Gucosamine HCl. Start with a "loading dose" (double the recommended 1000 mg each) for two weeks, then back off to the maintenance dose. I hope it helps you as much as it has me.

Hi, MaryM. Yep, I've taken supplements. I thought they were working till I stopped and realized there was no difference. LOL I like your suggestion, though. I'm going to check and see what I can get with glucosamine sulfate in it. I know the same holds true for horses. I changed my gelding's supplement recently to a sulfate combo instead of the HCL he was getting. Haven't had a chance to determine if there's a difference yet in his movement.
A friend told me about something called System Saver, which I bought (very expensive!) and tried, but I had an allergic reaction to something in it. It's a proprietary blend of stuff, so there's no ingredient listing and no way to tell what bothered me, but it depressed my breathing to the point of concern. But my friend absolutely swears by the stuff. She uses it on her dogs (she trains and shows them) and on herself (she's got multiple health issues) with great results.
Thanks again for the advice! Nice to meet you.
