    Re: news on Vanny

That was very brave of you to make the ultimate decision for Vanny.  It's so, so hard to do what you know is right.  I had to put down my big TB almost one year ago due to a bad colic.  We tried everything, other than surgery, but nothing helped and he was suffering, so, I had to make that decision too.  You need to make the choice as to what is best for THEM, not about how you feel now or afterwards.  I'm glad you were able to help him.

It hurts so much right now, but that will fade.  But, the good memories will live on in your mind and heart.  Keep those feelings alive.  Big hugs to you.

    Thanks for posting this, JG.

So sorry Sprague - it really stinks doesn't it? And you just want to scream at someone and hit something and all you have the energy  and ambition to do is stick your head under the covers and hide.

It is so nice that you will be able to bury him on your property so you will always have him with you.

Best wishes and much love, SH

Thanks for posting the news, JG.

Sprague, my deepest condolences for your loss.  You did the good and brave thing for Vanny and now he is running pain free on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge with Vodka Tonic, Eight Belles, Barbaro and all the others.

    Big Hugs,

    Blue

I'm so sorry Sprague.  Just know  that our hearts are with you and we are all here to share your pain.  He was a beautiful boy and a true friend and you proved yourself a true friend in return.  God bless you.

You were very brave and you made the right decision for Vanny.  I made the same promise to Annapolis 20 years ago, that he could stay with me for the rest of his life and that when the time came, I wouldn't let him suffer and I'd let him go peacefully.  I hope I'm as brave as you have been when that time comes.

    *hugs*

I am fairly new to this forum and lurk more than I post, but have followed your posts about your Vanny... you can tell he is a special guy.   It is obvious you will do what is best for him regardless of the pain it causes you.  I am so sorry you have to make that decision.

I will be praying for you both .........

I'm a lurker, I don't normally post, but I had to send you a *HUG*  I'm so sorry to read of your loss.  I put my first horse down 13 years ago and it still feels like yesterday.  I like you, had to make a decision for her, not me and I'm glad I did.  I still miss her but know that I did the right thing.  Wow 23 years.  You have many memories to live on for a long time, you are so lucky to have had such a wonderful animal for so long.  Please know that you are in my thoughts.
