I'm in Canada and just dreamin, lol. That was the first time I'd seen this website. There are some nice horses on there! I believe the first one you posted...her left ear isn't quite right,..am I seeing things?

Check out 1293. The first pic, she's pretty impressive in the conformation/flash dept. The 2nd pic, she must be standing downhill.

I went thru a whole bunch of them. Was like eye candy! Thanks for the link.Big Smile

I'll try to get some pictures of him on here. He is black and white but is not just like a paint. He looks kinda like a grey App. There is some black on him. He has a black dot on his forehead that kind of looks like an eye. He has a small pretty head too. Not one of those donkey looking heads. I want to say he is about 11 years old at the most. He is about 14hh. He isn't a small mule like a lot of people have. They have pony mules mostly that I see. Like 12 and 13hh. He will come up to you and eat carrots or whatever but when you reach out to touch him he turns around and goes away. He doesn't like freak and run he just flinches a little and turns around like I can't trust you not to touch me I'm leaving. When you have food he is your best friend and he always walks up to the fence when you stop next to it and he sees you. When we put him in the trailer we just put him in a small pen and herd him into it and he has no problem. He goes right in and turns around to see what you are going to do. He has been led in the trailer before but not recent. Oh yeah he is halter broke unless he gets to far behind or spooks. If he knows he is caught he isn't real bad. This mule just needs someone to teach him more about people with hands on contact. He likes being scratched under his chin if you can actually get him to stand long enough to let you. I like this mule but I think he needs more human attention that I can't give. The only reason I haven't gotten rid of him is because I don't want him abused. I want someone to train him the right way and him trust them not fear them. For some reason I see a lot of people beating mules. I guess they think it will make them not stubborn but it doesn't work that way. I will try to get pictures if your intrested in mules. I'll send you a picture of all 3. We make fun of them and say they are the three stooges. I might have a picture I can scan if my scanner works with this computer. I'll try to have one on here by tomorrow.

Well, bidding opened today and they have added more!  Considering they are talking about killing the ones that they can't afford to care for, I would think that they would have a lot more listed, but any way....

I just love the look of # 3209, but there wasn't much info on the site about him.  So, I contacted Steve Mantle and this is what he said...

"He appears to be straight and correct in his legs, has a nice big hip and a good sloping front shoulder, travels smoothly and has never shown any signs of lameness since he has been here... "

"that colt came in here to the ranch about a month ago, we have not worked with him other then to put him in the pens (12x12) and get him started eating oats. He is very calm and seems to be easy going."

I am so bummed that they closed the holding facilty in TN and MS.  Now the closest pick places are IL and OK which I can not manage.  But in the interest of helping this horse find a home, I thought that I would share Steve's info.  I hope someone can give this boy a good home.  He looks like he is going to be sturdy.

Just curious though, do cremellos have a tendency to be deaf like a lot of white horses?

He sounds alot like Tipp, my mule I used to have when I first got him.  He was a litle red dun I found at a horse traders and just couldn't live without.  It took quite a while before I could catch him but he was already trained to ride.  I quess someone really "broke" him when they did.  But once I started riding him he was the best.  He would spin and roll back and had the smoothest little trot.  I had even started doing some small jumps on him and he loved it.  But then he jumped my six foot fence and got into the neighbors pasture and ate out of one of those cattle mineral tubs.  I thought he had coliced but the vet finally said it wasn't a normal colic it was like he had been poisoned.  We tried but he ended up passing away the next day.  That night I really thought he would make it, he had got up and was eating hay and seemed normal.  It still makes me sad to think about it.  He was my favorite riding buddy.  We went everywhere together.  But he made me love mules and I miss the sound of that earsplitting bray, lol.

I would love to see pics of all three.

Nope! Deafness is linked to splash (but most splash horses hear fine)

Well, as of this morning the BLM internet adoption website is officially having technical difficulties.  It was down yesterday and I couldn't get on.  Hopefully, they will get it all back up and running soon.  They need to find homes for a lot of horses.  I hope bidders don't get frustrated and give up.

    That was my thoughts exactly.

I am calling them today.  The BLM has a program where you can train the mustangs and get paid when they get adopted out.  I am going to ask if the would allow me to take a horse, pick it up at the Extreme Mustang Makeover and train it for the next adoption.

I was pleased to see that alot more horses were being bid on than usual in this adoption.  1384 has not been bid on though.Sad

Hoping that they will work with you and 1384 will get a good home.

BLM's whole site was down yesterday, but now just the adoptions.  Personally, I would make it a priority to find homes for animals whose very lives are in danger rather than the standard website junk, but that is just me.

I hope the cremello at the Mantle Ranch goes to a good place.  He looks like such a sweet boy.

I would like to encourage folks to check out the BLM's site asking for suggestions for dealing with the horses that the government rounded up, but can no longer afford to care for.  Someone else posted about it earlier, but I just wanted to keep the subject in the public view.
