We have a pony that has a cracked upper molar. The vet is coming out to take x rays to see how bad it is. He is having trouble eating. We tried chopped hay and tonight he did not eat it. We are going to buy hay stretcher tomorrow and make it into a mash and try that.

Can anyone give me info or know of a website I can go to for info on cracked molars? Does anyone know if banamine or bute works better for the pain? Thank you

Like an impacted wisdom tooth pain meds will not do much. If the pony is in so much pain that he is not eating odds are the tooth is infected. About the only option is to remove the tooth. I had to have this done on my stallion. He had a tooth broken when a mare kicked him and broke his jaw. He went 2 years before the tooth became infected and painful.
