Who's your favorite riding clinician and why?

The upcoming December 2009 issue of Practical Horseman is focused on education. In it we bring you reports from two recent clinics: one with Olympic show jumper Joe Fargis and another with eventer Jon Holling. This got me to wondering, who is your favorite riding clinician, and why? If you haven't taken any clinics, who would you want to ride with?

My favorite clinician is Craig Cameron.  I doubt many of your readers are very familiar with him, though Wink

He's easy for me to understand, we speak the same language, and he doesn't beat around the proverbial bush!

I've never actually had the opportunity to attend a clinic, but my top choices would be Jim Wofford and Jane Savoie - both explain things in a way that I understand, and have a wonderful attitude when it comes to horsemanship.

I also saw Monty Roberts demonstrate Join-Up one time, that was a joy to watch.

As a rider who competes in both english and western events (I am an avid Practical Horseman reader) I think it would be extremely interesting to see an article on Chris Cox.  He did an episode on his TV show a few months back helping a showjumper with her warmblood stallion that was rushing fences and having overall problems.  I was SUPER impressed to see how well this cowboy did with the horse and the huge results he had within a few jumps (and yes he jumped the horse in an english saddle!)  You should look up that episode and take a look.  It might bring a fresh face and some fresh opinions to the english riders who read your magazine (it has gotten to the point where I can accurately predict word for word what George Morris is going to have to say about each rider's equitation... not that it isn't a great article every month, but it would be nice to have something new.)

well why don't you just ride right over there and tell him?  he's just west of Weatherford in Mineral Wells, not too far from where you landed from California, he could put you on one of his shows!

My favourite is Jim Wofford hands down.  A very close second is Ian Stark, who launched me on the eventing path with glee.

I agree with madel as well -- George Morris always has helpful suggestions for riders in his column, but I think many of us could recite by heart what it will say for each picture and fresh voices would be fantastic!
