    Appraisal

I'm considering selling Nick because I really need an equitation horse, and I really don't have the time for 6 horses.

sooooo how much would suggest I try to sell him for?

    Show name: Tailored to Suit
    Age: 6

    Breed: TB

Height: 16.1 or 16.2hh (hasn't been officially sticked)

    Temperment: 2 out of 10

Experiance: I brought him down off the track last year around June. He had a few months off, then I started ground work. By December he was being ridden. In January he started ground poles. Then he had some time off because I was gone off for winter circuit a lot with my other horses. In April we started him over fences, then he had about a month off again because I was gone for horse shows again. But through that time, I've managed to start him over fences, take him to two shows and do a few hack classes with him, which he pinned. For the past month he's been in training with a really big name hunter trainer. She trained the 2007 regular working hunter usef horse of the year, she's also trained numerous ushja derby winners, and qualified tons of horses for devon. He's insanely quiet, virtually no show prep. He walks off the trailer show ready. He's got good feet, he's actually barefoot right now, but is fine with being shod. He clips, loads, bathes, crossties, lunges, everything. No spooking, rearing, bolting, bucking, anything.

This is just so you can see his movement, this was the day he came off the track

This is his second time ever seeing a ground pole in his life

This is his first time ever seeing a jump in his life

    Second time ever jumping

    First vertical ever

First time ever jumping without ground poles

And this would be his first time ever in this arena and an arena this big, so you can get a feeling of how he's like at shows

I'm not good at pricing, but I love him he is too cute! He seems so quiet for an OTTB. Good luck with selling him!

    Re: Appraisal

yep. He's freakishly quiet. That's kind of my problem. I ride reeeeeeally hot horses all the time because I show jumpers and exercise racehorses, so when I get on him, he's totally not the ride I'm used to. He'd make such a nice horse for anyone wanting to show the hunters on the A circuit, but he'd also be a great jumper for anyone making the switch from the hunters to the eq. because he's not your typical fire breathing dragon of a jumper, but he doesn't bat an eye at any jump, no matter how bad the distance is or how spooky it is.

    Re: Appraisal

I'm in the middle of the course to become an equine appraiser, and I can tell you right off the bat that the price has to be determined by the market you intend to sell him in.  If you're going to list him online where he'll be seen by people all across the country, find other similar horses on the same site and average their prices.  Then add or deduct based on the differences in training and behavior you find.  A cool temperament is a plus for most people, particularly eventers.

If you intend to sell him locally, then you're more restricted depending on how well the horse market is faring in your neck of the woods.  Here in NW NJ, where eventing is all the rage right now, you could probably get more for him than in Central PA where money is much tighter.

He's only 6, which is a plus.  He's experienced, which is a plus.  He's lovely, which is a HUGE plus.  Is he kid-safe?  That would be another huge plus.  Do some research.  Go to the top online sites--equine.com and dreamhorse.com--and limit your search to similar horses in your local area, then work from there.

Good luck!  He looks like a wonderful horse for someone who wants fun without danger.  Heck!  He'd be perfect for me if I didn't already have six horses!  LOL
