My Jonestar has one AC too and I also tried  fan to be able him to cope up with hot summer days. I never let him on AC much because he might be used to it and yeah, I need to make sure he sweats. And he also needs to go out everytime for practice and sometimes walk around. I wanted to put a misting system on his cabin, so that misting the areas could probably help him when hot weather strikes. In the long run I guess, this is much better than an AC unit.

 This is an old thread you responded to, but anhidrosis, or non-sweating comes up quite often in this forum.  My own horse, now 30 yrs old, has been on One AC for over 15 yrs! 

 I like your idea of a misting system - that would certainly moderate things and keep the temperature down some.
