    Dreamhorse forum evilness...

I've checked the rules, and I didn't see anything about not venting, so I believe this is allowed...please tell me if it's not. ;)

Anyway...just got off of the dreamhorse forum, (I'm AnnieW128), and gosh, those people can be evil!  Some of the users were quite helpful, but others...you mention not wanting to hit a horse for little things, and you get an explosion of disagreement.  I was talking about a tack list earlier, and some lady chewed me out for not wanting to purchase a sweat scraper the *day* I got the horse, (I was planning to do it next weekend, when it was on sale).

Got so bad that a couple of people told me that I really had no right to judge prospective trainers because I hadn't worked in the horse business yet!  My goodness, I just wanted to scream, "get off of your high horse!"

Anyway...just needed to get that off my chest.  They were so insulted that I wouldn't take their advice on *everything* just because I don't have as much experience as they do and haven't owned a horse, (though I've been riding for 5 years).

I'm beginning to see that some horse people that have been around aren't that nice to beginners.  Mental note made: never get so angry over something so silly.

    ;)

    Happy hoofbeats,
    Annie

LMBO about a lady who would get upset about you not having a sweat scraper!!  I mean, unless you're gonna work your horse into a lather or wet it down with a hose.... and even then the side of your hand words great.  Sorry you had trouble in a different forum, some people just get their panties all in a twist over the smallest stuff Wink  I think that most of the folks here on EquiSearch are good and we share our help and opinions with good hearts, so hopefully you will have a better experience.  Welcome to the world of horse ownership! Smile Oh, and welcome to the EquiSearch Forum as well.

I was planning on just using my hand for a week...like every other horse person that can't find their sweat scraper!

Sadly, the world of horse ownership hasn't been entered yet...deal fell through...but we'll be looking again next year.

And thank you, I looked around, and this seemed like one of the nicest forums that I could find, so here I am!

    Hi Annie

Glad you feel comfortable enough to vent here.  Having said that, I've seen exactly what you're describing happen here, not all the time, but sometimes.

Hope you feel better for getting that off your chest.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Welcome Anni!  You are at the BEST forum you could have possibly found.  If you need anything just ask.

I have to admit we do have some disagreements around here but we always work it out.  And sometimes you just have to ignore people like the sweat scraper lady.  LOL, when I first got horses I used to use a plastic lid from a whip cream bowlEmbarrassed .  Hey it workedStick out tongue

Anyways I am Amber and I currently have (Oh My Gosh) 16 equines.  Two minis, one mule, five mustangs, two apps, a paint, a paint/Tenn. Walker cross, 3 Quarter horses and a Zonkey.

    Hi Amber!

Gosh, so many warm welcomes!  It sounds like you've got quite the herd!  How on earth did you come by the Zonkey??

My mom's standing here as I type this, and she's asking if you have pictures... ;)

Actually I just bought the Zonkey.  Check out the thread titled Zonkies and there are pictures there.

    Re: Dreamhorse forum evilness...

I heartily dislike people like that who get so haughty about everything. I really like Equisearch because people here can give advice and give it thoughtfully. I once put a video of my riding on a different forum (mind you, I'm a beginner and at the time of the video I had only been in consistent lessons for about five months) and a woman there told me 'I looked like a bag of potatoes.' My legs also used to swing while cantering and she said, "I took into account that you have not  been in hte saddle much in a while but still they were swinging as a green riders would." ...Hello? I am a GREEN rider!

Sorry about that dreamhorse forum : (. People can be, and are, dumb.

Don't mind all of my questions...but I'm just curious, are they broke to ride?  Or are they just really, really neat pasture pets?

    Re: Dreamhorse forum evilness...

I'm so sorry that people were so mean.  As hard as you work, there will always be people that are better than you and willing to flaunt it...I hope I never become one of those people!

(And besides, I'm sure the woman who criticized you wasn't a perfect rider herself!)

    Happy hoofbeats,
    Annie
