Danny is a 16.2 hand, 4 1/2 year old, grade pinto gelding. Waht do you guys think of him?

The video is what I'm able to see.  The pics are really too dark.  I love his look, big and strong, with good bones.  No hesitation at the jump... does he even know it's there? LOL.  He looks like he would be able and willing to go to great heights and is getting that nice steady hunter stride.  He also looks good for jumping and eventing, if you wanted to go that direction.  He's a very handsome fella - you can drop him off at my place if you ever come this way!!

Wow!!! Those are some of the nicest things anyone has ever had to say about Danny!! It put a big smile on my face to have you say that about my boy. Hopefully we'll be showing in baby green classes next summer (he's not your typical hunter look, some people say he's too stocky, but what do they know, this boys got the tallent to get to the top). I love eventing, even my "dressage savvy" friend has said he could do the dressage part of it too. I have tried Danny over some very small natural fences (i.e. downed trees/logs). I have the most experiance with hunters (over 7 years showing and training/assisting in the training of b and c cuircuit hunters, and a few a's). I'm just so happy that he's doing so well, and to think I wanted him to be a western pleasure horse. I amy have to rethink that

The hunter world is opening up some to new breeds (including mules and drafts! ) and it's about time!   People kept asking me if my TB was a QH, b/c he was 15'3" and solid, big boned.  But he won ribbons b/c he had a beautiful way of moving and was steady as a rock in his gaits.  You'll be fine and jumping is just so liberating!  What is Danny's mix, he's too big to just be a paint.

his mommy was an OTTB (17.1h) and his daddy was an unknown paint. my friend owns his half brother (they both have the same dad), his brother is half paint, half arabian (he's tiny, just 14.3h), so I'm assuming his daddy wasn't very big (probably about 15h-ish)

 No he's not. My Painty boy was that big.

But more to the point... Danny looks good to me. I'm no expert, but he looks like he is coming along very nicely! Long strides, eh? I love his build and awesome color. Keep up the good work with him.

Make sure that you teach him to wait to the base of the jump. I think it would also be beneficial to you to look into getting some dressage lessons (or any good lessons where your coach works on correctly softening your horse) to help soften and develope Danny's canter. He's resistant to your hand and is on his forehand. Getting him to soften, rock back, and lift his shoulders would help him in all areas.
