YOu know those little beads that have holes in the middle of them.  My grandaughter makes bracelets out of them.  Anyway.  I just string them and tie them in my horses mane and tails.  I have alittle paint paso.  And she lookes like a little decorated indian pony with them on.  My saddle is black.  Blanket is red and black.  I string red and black beads.  If the flies are not bad and I do not have a knited fly hat on her i put them in her forelock also.  She looks so cute.  LOL

I am so sorry.  I do not have any photos.  A short story here. 

I am not one to take a camera.  But one time I did take one and I was taking pictures like crazy.  we all had our horses decked out.  I was getting some good pictures.  We were all saddled up and I made one pit stop before we took off.  As i was leaving the out house I noticed a camera in the out pot.  I mean in the pot.  I told someone they lost there camera in the outhouse.  And I was not fishing it out.   everyone check to see if they had there cameras.  Wouldnt you know it was my camera.  All those good pictures going to waste.  Everyone had a good laugh on that one.

No trail riding here for a while.  It is below zero and the wind is blowing.  You can see the ice in the air.  I will be so glad when spring is here.

Okey,So how do you secure these pony beads to the hair? With small rubber bands? It sounds like fun and something different to do while the Winter rolls on by. Creative Folks are and asset to this thread!  PJ

Or you could braid them in.  I braided just a few inches from the top then put a rubber band in and they hung real pretty.   Yes, it is fun to decorate you horse.  But i am not creative at all.  And I dont have a green thumb either.  And I am not a organized person.  But I make it thru life.  LOL

Also to braid them in you do not need much hair.  Just enough to keep the strung beads in.

It's a great idea that the Administrators put a special,"50 plus" topic on the main forum menu but we do have something going here too. I'm glad that they left us here and started a seperate forum for trouble shooting and confidence building. There are alot of us over 50 who love horses whether we own one or not. It's like my Mom once said," She will never grow out of loving horses!" Have a super day, Everyone!! PJ

I agree. The new forum is nice but I hope this thread keeps on. It's been so active, alive and fun.

Jayne-  Can we leave this thread here for awhile and see if it continues to do well? I think that it might be easier for new people to find if it is left in this place. It seems like the other place is more of a topical interest group to those of us in the over 50 group!! Great idea though.  THanks. PJ
