  • Re: Party Day

Good luck at the HT, Solo! Do you have your official photographer lined up? I used to look after my friends farm frequently as she would go out of town to show and invariably, we would have crappy weather. Hauling hay out to the pastured horses in the pouring rain just takes all the fun out of the job. Very cute pony, RC. I'm with Solo - what is on her face? Did I mention how much I hate the short days? It's pitch black in the mornings when I feed and dusk when I get home - to feed. Right

Ronnie could definitely benefit from more work. He's also built like a barrel, so always gives the impression of being well-fleshed. His neck and throatlatch are thick. That's the way he is! He is a very easy keeper, so finding the balance between enough energy and not too many calories has been a challenge. When he gets into harder work, some of this will take care of itself. Thanks!

Wow, Sprague - I'm glad you weren't hurt any worse. How are you feeling today? What are the voices in your head telling you? I'm with everyone else. Stop beating yourself up about it. I think you would be beating yourself up if you did initially turn away from the situation, thinking about all the "what if's" and that you didn't use the opportunity for some schooling. No, the effort didn't turn out like you wanted, but now you know and it gives you something else

FCP - Ronnie is mine. I hope to event him. He's quite athletic, quick and bold, so I think that will be a good choice for him. He does have more "huntery" movement, rather than being more extravagant, but should do fine in dressage. He does put on a pretty good winter coat! That way, I don't have to blanket him very often - easier for me.

She is a tad long in the back, but doesn't show the weakness in the loin that sometimes brings. She is a little over at the knee, also, but that hasn't been a problem. When her butt catches up to her shoulder, she's going to be huge! I love her big build and big joints. A solid girl. Just my type! It must be the slight angle to her head in the picture, because her head is actually pretty big. Not feminine at all. Sorry Cleo - the truth hurts! She has a huge jowl and very broad forehead

Hey, Solaris - I hoped you'd see this. I always enjoy your critiques! Oooo! Red Horse points - think that will help in dressage? He is more upright than I would like, but we're dealing with it. Can't have everything! He still is a nice ride. Ronnie puts on a lot of winter hair everywhere, including his front pasterns. I guess his ankles get cold? Guess I should have at least trimmed those before the pictures. We hope to event at some level and probably do more hunter/jumper stuff, so

Yes, DR3, his front pasterns are steeper than I would like, but doesn't make for a rougher ride. The trot picture really doesn't do him justice, but it's the best one I had to show. He doesn't have extravagant movement, but steps nicely and uses himself well His neck is thick, but it kind of goes with the rest of his "thick" body. RPSI = Rheinland Pfalz-saar International, which is an extension of its German parent verband. Ronnie is a Swedish WB/TB cross. He is a nice guy
