It depends on the horse. My mare was very strong when I got her and would run through a plain snaffle. Got the slow twist, and she got a little better but was still able to drag me around. I ride her now in a twisted wire. And, yes you can ride in this bit more than once a week. She likes it and has no problem with it. I show with this bit and school at home with it. All depends on the horse and what works for them. I do agree that you should never use a harsh bit on a greenie or with an inexperienced

I think your over all postion is there, but you need to really get those heels down. I was taught to put weight on the ball of you big toe, and that with naturally put the correct part of your leg on your horse. Try more two point as well to lengthen your leg and heel.

I ride hunter and have no problem showing in this bit.

I hope someone can answer a question for me. I have a Paint mare, whose papers were lost, and I was wondering if I ever bred her to a Registered Paint could I still register the foal in APHA? I didn't know if you had to have both parents registered or not. Thanks!

I was hoping I could get some advice and some excercise ideas. I have been working with my 4 year old on lunging, but he is having problems with "whoa"! He will stop but everytime he does he will face me or come into the middle. How do I get him to stop that and just stop where he is?? thanks!!

I have never had experience with a horse who is "new" to the whole longe thing, but what you are saying makes total sense. It does seem like he faces me to find out what to do next. Thanks for the replies. Yes, I am looking for a barn name. Right now he has "Doc" after his racing name Doctored Account, but I dont really care for that. He has the best personality and is an awesome mover! HUGE stride! And not to forget, cute as a button :) Can you tell I am a proud momma????
