• Re: Coolers

    (1) Horses plus heaters are a bad idea -- in order for a heater to be really effective, you'd have to shut up the building, which equals no ventilation which equals very bad for your horse. Plus a heater in the barn anyway is just asking for a barn fire disaster. So I'd quit that. Horses make PLENTY of body heat of their own, if she needs any more, just give her some hay to munch on. (2) I have both wool and fleece and honestly I use the wool one a lot more. It just works better and being

Oooo, nice moving mare! What's up with that crazy rig cranking her head in though? I hope that thing doesn't come with her!

The link you posted for the dress sheet would work just fine -- mine is also a "dress sheet", I picked it up at horseloverz or ebay I think. I figure wool is wool -- another thing I like about it is that it has its own weight, so it doesn't flap around, but hugs the horse's body. SM, I wash everything in cold water, so no, I have never had any shrinkage issues. I use woolite or the generic version thereof for all wool and delicates too.

Our big HT is Sunday at Carolina Horse Park, so we are trying to get ready in all this rain! I had offered to feed all the horses tonight as BO is at a dinner. OF COURSE, it started pouring as soon as I got out of the truck....and stopped right after I had plodded through it all and already gotten all the horses in. *grumble*

I have not owned one. But I have sat in one -- and it was comfy and lovely leather! I have only heard good things -- I almost bought one, but I needed a changeable gullet.

  • Re: Need help with my spurs!

If they are appropriate riding boots, they should have spur rests to prevent that.

I was looking on Colorado State's website and their PhD programs say that in order to be accepted you need at least a B.S.
When I started looking into grad schools most of them listed a B.A. as the requirement for application, but when I looked at the profiles of their current students, they all had Master's from other universities. That's like when vet schools list 2.5 as the minimum GPA... no way in heck is

Jg, this sounds exactly like a cam position sensor issue -- that's exactly what happens, you just loose power and die instantly at random times and places. This has been a big problem with the Ford 7.3L trucks, because they had put in a faulty CPS and had to run a recall on it, but then some of the recall ones were even bad! Thankfully, I haven't had that problem with mine, seem to have a good one in there, but it is very very very common. On the good side, although it's a pain in the

It is also very rare to go directly from a BS to a PhD -- most of the time, you need to complete a Master's degree before the PhD. This makes it 4 years for BS, 2-3 years for MS, and then anywhere from 4-10 years (depending on study and person, LOL) for PhD. Most PhD programs will not accept a student with only a BS.

  • Re: Stopping on trail getting worse

Don't feel bad about getting off and leading -- sometimes this really can be the safest way for some people to handle this problem. It may be annoying but I might try just continuing this and perhaps he will figure out that he is not going to win that battle, you will just continue to make him continue. It's hard, but really important to stay cool, calm, and patient. I would also pack some tasty treats, so when you get to your furthest point out, loosen his girth, give him some treats, and
