I used to board my horses. Where we were, it was in during the day for summer because of the heat and bugs, and out at night. In the winter, it was in during the night for warmth, and out during the day. That was an ok setup in my opinion, as the owner always made sure that they got out for as much time as possible, but it started to become a problem for my older horse. He would come out of his stall pretty stiff, and the last summer we spent there his legs started to stock up (he does get a joint

I agree with what has been said. The old saying is true "no hoof, no horse" so you really need to take this SERIOUSLY. We had to pass on buying a really great horse because he had an abcess that just wouldn't heal (along with a tendon injury that may have been caused by the abcess). Have you been soaking his foot every day in epsom salts? That is what people normally tell you to do if your horse has an abcess. Good luck, and I hope your horse is feeling better soon. Oh, you may want

When you say a 3 ring happy mouth snaffle, are you meaning that the bit has 3 rings on which you could place the reins? If so, what level are you on? If you are on the bottom, the leverage is probably making his head go low. If he likes and responds to the bit, you may want to try putting it up one level so that there is not so much downward pull, but you still have a little more control than your other bit. If you do not have the kind of bit that I am thinking of, please disregard this information

I don't think that I would want to put my horse in that! It may be bigger than it seems in the picture, but those stalls seem really narrow and I would worry about my horse loosing her balance and hurting herself. Also, wouldn't it be really hard to see through your mirrors with that thing??? No, I have never seen one in person, so my reasoning is that they are not popular for a reason!

I have a wintec 500 with the changeable gullet system, and it fits both my wide backed arabs well, better than most saddles do. I would try the wider gullet before you go spend a lot of money on another saddle.

Your vet can do a blood test for vitamin E levels if you want. I always thought that a deficiency in vitamin E would cause a loss of muscle rather than muscle soreness though.

Triple Crown Senior feed is great for putting weight on. It also contains no corn, which seems to make my horse (he is a 23 yr. old Arabian gelding) go crazy. Also, give him as much hay as he can eat. If that still doesn't work, you may want to try a weight gain supplement or oil. I wouldn't give him sweet feed if he is a hard keeper/energetic horse. All the corn and sugar can bring out the worst in them, and it is not good for them as well (too much sugar). A balanced commercial feed will

Have you checked her for worms?

Is the first one an actual brand, or is the hair just shorter there? I can't really tell, but it doesn't look like the other one which is definitely a freeze brand. Sorry, I don't really know about any other brands than the ones that they used to brand the Arabs with. Good luck with him, he is definitely a cutie!

Last year my mean horse (that we just sold!!) reared up in an effort to get me off while on a trail ride, and flipped over backwards. She didn't land on me, but I landed on uneven ground and twisted my left ankle in hard enough to fracture the bone in two places. I also did quite a bit of damage to the muscles and ligaments in my ankle although I too don't know the extent because they never did an MRI on me either. I'm not sure that this will help because I also damaged the bone, but
