When I first got my crazy TB, he did some of the same things. Mostly, he was so scared that he would just run away, dragging my little 13 year old self behind him. I never had a round pen to teach him in, so I had my mom (who didn't know I had gotten dragged when lunging, I just said he would stand still) walk him around the circle while I stood in the middle. When I gave commands, my mom would also ask him to stop, slow, whatever I was asking for. He picked it up pretty quickly, but it did take

I have a pair of Mountain horse boots, and have actually lived in them for two months (lived/worked at a barn this summer) and they still are great. They are a big investment, but these boots have held up to mud, water, riding, walking around in them, getting stepped on by drafts, you name it, these boots will hold up to it. It was a large initial investment, but I've had them for four years, and I probably won't be getting new boots for another four years. They are a little scuffed and worn

I have no personal experience with Saxon boots, but I do know that synthetic boots tend to be hot and uncomfortable in the summer, and freezing cold and uncomfortable in the winter. I agree, if you are not doing to be doing any upper level shows, paddock boots and half chaps are the way to go. I have two pairs of tall boots, and I still steal my friends boots and chaps to ride in! Plus, if you are walking around the barn all day, tall boots can be a real pain.

Layers, layers, layers. To start: Hot Chillies long underwear. It is designed for skiing and costs a arm and a leg, but I get mine for Christmas! I get the bottoms that have the foot loops, so I can pull multiple layers up over that without them getting all wrinkled. Then I do Smartwool socks, usually the knee high ones (I recycle a lot of my ski clothing this way!), WINTER BREECHES!!! They are a gift from the gods. I have a pair of fleece ones that keep me toasty warm. However, if Jackson starts
And that really teaches you alot about yourself doesn't it? That is one reason I love working with the mustangs so much. Just when you think you are teaching them then you realize they are really teaching you.
Can you two stop?!?! You are making me want a Mustang SOOOOO badly! Why do I have to live in a tiny little apartment? I have a feeling the BLM wouldn't see my balcony as an appropriate place to house a wild mustang.
Ahem, don't forget I live in the middle of Chicago! I don't even HAVE a balcony, unless you count the rooftop that's a common area and 40 stories up - silly, that's what boarding barns are for. ;)
Yeah, but most boarding barns aren't all that excited about taking on a new customer and her wild mustang, who has never been touched. I guess I'm going to have to buy a ranch sometime soon!

Oh trust me, between the humane societies here, and the BLM weanling adoption that is going to happen soon, I'm having to use all of my reasoning as to why I can't afford a horse right now. Maybe in a few months though........ Trust me, you guys will be the first to know!

Wow!! Hmmmm.... I have cousins in NC, maybe I'll have to move in with them... I'm getting a little jealous since I'm out in the wild wild west now. Not an English saddle in sight... I love how Solo is just a little redish-brown dot out in that pasture, perfect!

Wow! What a difference! I guess that little neck did fill out! I also loved to read the whole story - I only knew of him as thebig handsome man his is now, and it was cool to see how he came to be!
