Ditto what everyone has already replied, and especially that it's great you are checking into the costs of owning a horse before getting one, make sure you also get some input on how much work it is to correctly care for one and that it is a HUGE responsibility! I only shoe my horses in the front...

If I try to confine mine, it just gets worse, so yeah I bet the fans do help. I don't have any real close neighbors either, but the fireworks seem to come from everywhere! And it's the pretty, colorful ones at night that bother them the most, much more than just the noisy ones. I guess the worst...

I agree with all the answers so far. You need to go back to basics. Your comments about spooking, bolting, running through the snaffle are not going to be "fixed" by your current bit. Your horse is scared and has not developed trust in you as his handler. The only way to fix this is to start...

I would like to know if there are certain bloodlines of horses (especially QH and Appy) that are known for super smooth gaits.
