  • TetnusCassady

I took this pictures before the vet came out, before we discovered she had tetnus. She looks so fit and muscly but its just because of all the stressed muscles and swelling poor dolly. Thank God she is past the worst now and on the road to a healthy life again!

  • Re: Sour Sweat?

[quote user="boosiler"] I wonder if it's not indicative of a kidney/liver chemical imbalance. Much like diabetic person will have "sweet" smelling breath. Not saying it's a need for panic or anything. Some people/animals just smell worse than others, but your odor is a result...

  • Sour Sweat?

My 14-yo Warmblood mare has the smelliest sweat! The best way to describe it is sour or acrid, like vinegar. Her saddle pads (and my gloves) are really foul after a ride, even when she's just had a bath. Leave them to dry over night and it's even worse the next day! I have to wash them frequently...

  • Re: 5 yr old ottb mare PROBLEMS!

It sounds from your note like the problem came on fairly suddenly, so I would first suspect a physical issue. You mentioned you had the massage therapist out, but did you consult a vet and have him/her do a full workup? I would look for sources of pain. I'd particularly have the vet check her eyes...

  • Let me know what you think of my mare's confirmation?

This is my mare Shelby, or at least she was and she's coming back to me in about 2 weeks. (Very, very, very excited about this!). She's AQHA, 16hh, 8 years old, rides English & Western Pleasure. I've jumped her at 3' but haven't gone higher than that. At any rate, would you mind...

  • Re: Milk From Udders but not Pregnant?!

I have the same problem with my 31 year old mare. She has never had a colt but I am baffled why she would even have milk in her utters. She is on progressive pellets. Do you know why she is lactating at her age? ddknopf
